Speech Within Reach is a paediatric speech pathology service, focusing on early intervention and supporting children up to 12 years of age.

About

Hi, I’m Stephanie, the founder and speech pathologist behind Speech Within Reach.

After working in several private practices, I created Speech Within Reach to offer high-quality, family-centred therapy that is practical, supportive and accessible.

My main interest is supporting preschool children with speech, language and early literacy skills. I believe the early years are a vital time for building strong communication foundations that support confidence and learning.

I currently see clients in the clinic, online and in schools, and I’m also developing an online resource platform to help parents support their children’s speech and language development at home. This will include simple, practical strategies and activities to make support more accessible for families. Coming soon.

At Speech Within Reach, my goal is to make speech pathology empowering, approachable and truly within reach for every family.

How can we help?

We support children to build strong speech, language and early literacy skills in a warm, supportive way. Our sessions are tailored to each child and focus on practical strategies that families can use every day.

We can help with:

  • Speech sounds and clear speech

  • Language development

  • Early literacy skills

  • Orofacial myology (mouth, tongue and breathing patterns that impact speech, feeding and development)

  • Social skills and communication with others

  • Building confidence in communication

We offer support through:

  • In-clinic sessions

  • Online therapy (telehealth)

  • School-based support

Coming soon, we’ll also be launching online resources for parents to use at home, either alongside therapy or on their own. These will include simple activities and guidance to make speech and language support easy and accessible for families.

Our Services

  • Speech Within Reach provides comprehensive speech pathology assessments, using standardised assessment tools. The type of assessment conducted is based on the area/s of difficulty experienced by your child. This could include speech, language, oromyofunctional and literacy assessment.

Reports are provided at an additional cost to the assessment session/s and are recommended for record keeping and communication between health professionals.

  • Therapy sessions take place in the Camberwell clinic room. All sessions are 60 mins, which involves 45 mins face to face with the client and 15 mins for non-clinical administration work (session notes, emails to parents/teachers, creating resources, session planning etc.).

  • Speech Within Reach provides telehealth therapy services as an alternative to face to face sessions. This provides convenient access to services as they can take place anywhere with internet connection.

The speech pathologist uses a videoconferencing software (zoom) to administer client sessions in real-time.

Telehealth therapy sessions are 60 mins, with 45 mins with the client and 15 mins for non-clinical administration (session notes, emails to parents/teachers, creating resources, session planning etc.).

Funding

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme

NDIS is a federal government funding scheme that supports individuals with a permanent disability to have access to therapy to increase their independence in the community.

Speech Within Reach sees children who have NDIS funding. We are able to see clients who are self-managed and plan-managed.

If you are referred by a GP under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, your child may be eligible for a Medicare rebate ($56 per session) for up to 5 speech pathology services per calendar year.

A CDM referral form will need to be completed by your GP. Your GP will decide if you are eligible for these services and will provide a referral.
